PowerHost MySQL1 (mysql1.ukisp.com) maintenance - 30/11/09 - 22:00 - 23:59

Notice of planned maintenance: 30/11/09 - 22:00 - 23:59

NewNet engineers will be carrying out planned maintenance on the PowerHost shared MySQL database server ‘Mysql1′ (mysql1.ukisp.com), to upgrade the software.  This work is essential to resolve some issues with the existing software that could potentially cause system instability.

Users of the system will experience an outage whilst this work is completed.  The expected outage is no more than 1 hour, however the service is considered ‘at risk’ throughout the whole maintenance window.

BT Central Pipe Maintenance

We have been advised by BT that they will be performing maintenance on one of our BT Central Pipes on 27/11/2009 between 00:01 and 04:00.

Any users connected on the affected pipe will notice a drop in service but sessions should reconnect on an alternative pipe.

Once this maintenance is complete, NewNet engineers will rebalance all IPStream sessions. At this time, all IPStream users will experience a disconnection. Sessions should automatically reconnect - if you have any issues please restart your router.

The rebalance is planned for 27/11/2009 06:00.

DSL platform upgrades (ii) - 17/11/09 00.01-04.00

NewNet engineers will be undertaking upgrades to some parts of our
legacy DSL network in order to accommodate NewNet’s new DSL platform.
Description of works:
1. New resilient aggregation platform to be deployed between
the DSL platform and the core network to optimize the number
of prefix advertisements into the core network.
2. Migration of legacy DSL infrastructure (Redback and LLU LNS)
behind the new aggregation platform.
3. Installation of new redundant pair of L2TP network servers
to support session terminations on the new WBMC platform and
LLU platform (actual sessions to be migrated in future
maintenance windows).
These works form the second stage of the development of our new DSL
platform, with further works to be scheduled in the following weeks.
All customers with Etherdirect services and DSL customers on both LLU
and IPStream platforms will experience an up to 30 minutes outage during
the maintenance window advertised above.
Given the nature of these works, customers with services as defined
above should consider their services as “at risk” for the duration of the
maintenance window.

BT Exchange planned works - 11/11/2009

The following BT exchanges will experience outages between 00.01 and 06.00 on the 11/11/2009 while BT upgrade software on there broadband platforms.

DSL platform upgrades - 12/11/09 00.01-04.00

NewNet engineers will be undertaking upgrades to some parts of our access network in order to accommodate NewNet’s new DSL platform. In particular a number of access switches and routers will be configured to support jumbo frames in order to be able to handle 1500 bytes frames over L2TP tunnels; this will avoid any issues with MTU settings.

These works form the first stage of the development of our new DSL platform, with further works to be scheduled shortly.

All customers with leased lines terminated in London, Etherdirect, NES services and LLU DSL services will experience an up to 15 minutes outage during the maintenance window advertised above.

Given the nature of these works, customers with services as defined above should consider their services as “at risk” for the duration of the maintenance window.
