Emergency ADSL pipe rebalance - 20/01/10, 18:30

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Following the loss of a tunnel on one of the BT central pipes overnight, NewNet engineers will be re-balancing the pipes during an emergency maintenance slot on 20/01/10 - 18:30.  All IPStream sessions will be disconnected as a result of this  maintenance, but should re-connect automatically.  If your session does not re-connect automatically, please try power cycling your ADSL modem/router.  If you still have no connection following this, please contact NewNet’s support team.

Anyone who is experiencing issues before the re-balance at 18:30 should attempt disconnecting and re-connecting their PPP session (Power cycling their ADSL router/modem).  This may need to be attempted a couple of times before the session is established on an unaffected pipe.

NewNet engineers will be carrying out essential maintenance on routers within the core network to upgrade the network for future expansion.  During this maintenance period engineers will be increasing MTU values on routers to enable Jumbo Frames to pass through the network.

No customer facing outage will be expected, however, due to the nature of these works, customers should consider their services as “at risk” for the duration of the maintenance window.
