Carrier outage

Today at 11:31 NewNet saw a one minute carrier outage affecting south coast LLU areas.

This would have affected all fixed line services from south coast LLU areas for one minute.

This would have affected all xDSL services from south coast LLU areas.

NOTE: The effect is unusual in that depending on the hardware the end users have, DSL routers may require a hard reboot to re-establish their sessions to the network. If this is done full connectivity will be restored.

BT network outage in SE England

Newnet wish to advise customers of a service outage on the BT network affecting 21cn broadband lines in the South East of England area. This appears to be caused by an issue in the London Faraday node of the BT 21cn network. BT have advised that up to 175,000 circuits across all providers are likely to be affected, and we have also confirmed other ISP’s services are also affected by this outage.

Update 11.05 am: BT had hoped that the issue was now resolved, however this has proven to not be the case. Newnet continue to communicate with BT Wholesale and we are chasing for an estimated fix time.

Update: 11.30am: BT Wholesale advise us that the issue on their network is now resolved and was caused by a switch failure. For now this issue remains open as we continue to monitor the situation.

Update 15.30: Newnet are pleased to confirm that the BT network outage has been resolved and all service was restored. Fault was due to a router on the BT network.

Planned network maintenance on Havant Exchange 6th Sept 2011 00.01 - 04.00hrs

Newnet wish to inform customers of planned network maintenance occurring on Tuesday 6th September between 00:01-04:00hrs. Maintenance is being undertaken to Newnet equipment on the Havant Telephony Exchange. The maintenance will result in an outage of up to 30 min to NES customers and all Newnet Direct LLU users on this exchange. Service should be considered as “at risk” throughout the entirety of this maintenance window. NES service customers affected by this mainteance will be contacted directly by the Newnet Service desk

xDSL issues

Some xDSL connections may have lost connectivity between approximately 01:50 and 02:15. Engineers are investigating the cause of this outage.
If you are still unable to obtain connectivity, please power cycle (reboot) your DSL router equipment. If this fails to restore a connection, please contact our support team.

Update: 09:10 am: Outages last night were caused by BT emergency maintenance to their network at Stepney Green. Newnet apologises for any inconvenience caused. Any users still experiencing service issues should contact the Newnet service desk on 0844 8549289 or email support@newnet.co.uk.

Newnet wishes to advise customers of critical scheduled maintenance on the web14 shared hosting server between 22/8/2011 2200hrs - 23/8/2011 0200hrs. Users of this service should expect no more than 30mins downtime during this period. However service should be considered as “at risk” throughout the maintenance window.

Please note this maintenance will not affect any other users of Newnet hosting services e.g. users of the Powerhost platform or other managed hosting servers.
